Pros

Very few. You may get a decent team leader if you are lucky. The trick is keeping them.

Cons

Managers and "Account Executives" seem to spend most of their time barking orders at techs, instead of doing their actual jobs. There is a culture of blaming technicians for any ills a client might have - even when it isn't the tech's problem. Techs are expected to know everything yet when solutions are offered, everyone three levels up in management needs to be involved, and ultimately it's the most senior person who makes the decision. Never mind what the client ACTUALLY NEEDS. Following on from this - it can take MONTHS for a quote to come through, again due to lazy "account executives". Management regularly fails to communicate within itself, resulting in technicians being double booked for needless jobs. Health and Safety is a joke. If you need time off for health, particularly mental issues (so ridiculously common it's not funny), expect to be grilled for tiny details and made to feel worse for it. Bullying from senior management is rife - and combined with the abysmally offensive pay, it's a wonder anyone stays beyond three months. That's just the surface. If I went through everything I'd take pages and pages of it.

Pros

Travel to different sites Not high tempo Meet different people Get to touch different technologies and software

Cons

very low wages, better off stacking pallets or working at a supermarket, get better pay and benefits No benefits, need to provide your own uniform, getting any resources takes for ever from the leadership team Can only use AL after a year, minimum leave etc as per the law, no benefits for this No development opportunities, the leaders talk a lot of this but not going to get any training Low amount of staff as there is a high turn over as pay is crap, while other competition offers 10k more 1 small issue can turn into weeks long as everyone needs to get involved and have their say Bad for the customer as the techs keeps leaving

Pros

Few. It's easy to get a job there if you have even a basic grounding in PCs

Cons

Close to minimum wage for desktop techs. When the new minimum wage legislation comes into force, they will be paying about $2 an hour more. I would have been better off working stacking shelves at Countdown - they pay overtime and I wouldn't have to foot a $100+ a week fuel bill.
