Pros

- Some areas of the business genuinely try to promote consistency, best practices and modern ways of thinking in a sea of legacy. - Most of the people are friendly and promote a social workplace. - The executive team is somewhat approachable regarding issues, although it seems like they have little power to change certain things regarding HR issues. - Work-life balance is okay, generally not expected to work long hours. - Work from home policy is okay. Generally expected to be in the office 2x weekly which is fair.

Cons

- Outdated benefits package - Pretty much the bare minimum at an NZ tech company in 2023. - Pay disparity - The company does not treat new and existing employees the same. If you want to get paid similarly to the new joiners, you won't get it and you'll need to leave for a new job. - A lot of good employees and their knowledge have already left, or are about to. A real risk of the dead-sea effect is in motion. - Some bad eggs make it through to senior and above, making it hard to promote real changes that might go against 'the way we have always done it'. - Priority changes leave lots of tech debt and cause lots of context switching. Little chance to repay the debt before pivoting to the next project means we see downstream effects on incident numbers and the ability to make changes. - Inconsistent Code Patterns / Technologies - Caused by the above points.
