- Archaic technology - Bullying and harassment - Unprofessionalism - No structure - No induction - Inadequate to no training on tasks - No transparency - Racism - Homophobia - Inappropriate workplace discussion - Wasteful of resources, time and money - High paper wastage - No support from higher management - In my personal experience.

Pros

They offer a lot of opportunities for upskilling and have a decent community aspect. Lots of opportunities for sports involvement and deployments (depending on trade).

Cons

Pay is insufficient and the benefits usually associated with work in the military are few and far between. A depleted workforce also means that you carry the work of several for the same poor pay.

Learning about a different culture is nice.

Cons

If you’re not white, from New Zealand, active or former military, emotionally co dependent on your colleagues- this isn’t the place for you. & Please don’t be black and smart at the same time.
