      Pros

      Pays fairly well as long as you out-perform and shine bright without burning out. If you're an average face-in-the-crowd type of employee then nobody will give you the time of day.

      Cons

      Don't have an opinion that's contrary to any team leader, manager, or senior manager, and never give feedback. The managers just want to make a name for themselves by trying to impress everyone above them in the chain of command at the expense of making everyone below them in the chain miserable. I know this is usually the case in most corporations and organisations, but I've never seen it as pronounced and hurtful as I have in the ANZ bank.

      Pros

      Good benefits, opportunities to work on different projects and different business units. Career path. It was the great colleagues I worked with that kept me there so long.

      Cons

      The culture is all about money. Management pays lip service to valuing staff. HR is over-staffed and is unhelpful (refers questions to immediate manager). Management is all about advancing their own careers, and they are upward looking. Lots of "yes" men.

      Work/Life balance Good salary + benefits Big brand - blue chip experience One of the larger employers in Wellington

      Cons

      Senior Management culture - one rule for them, different rule for everyone else In the tech space, 90% of funds being spent on compliance - not much interesting stuff happening Many many layers of bureaucracy Tend not to listen to experienced experts they have hired into roles, and prefer to do things the "Bank's way"
