Pros

Opportunities for flexible and remote working.

Cons

The only way to get ahead is to be buddies with top management or to be white. The top management in AKQA Wellington is new and clueless on how to run a business. There is also severe systemic racism and favouritism within company culture for promotions, pay and redundancies. As soon as COVID-19 lockdown ended, they quickly chose to make batches of people redundant-all who were chosen were immigrants. They advertised and hired new people for the same roles after a few weeks. There is low pay and poor growth opportunities and the company has lost a lot of talent as a result of this.

Kia ora, I’m sorry to hear your concerns about AKQA Wellington and wish you had felt able to discuss these with me or our People & Talent Manager. We’re committed to being a culturally inclusive company because we believe that is a better company. When our people feel valued and that they belong they are more engaged, more motivated, more collaborative and more innovative. As a female leader, I wholeheartedly believe in embracing a growth mind-set and valuing the perspectives of others. We are all unique and our diverse perspectives are valuable to the team, our clients and the work. The team in Wellington represent people from many cultures and countries around the world, including Indonesia, India, Belgium, UK, USA and the Philippines and our gender balance is 40% female and 60% male. When it comes to performance and pay reviews, we follow a transparent and regular review cycle based on tenure, ability, track-record and values-alignment. We are also committed to growing our team by providing professional development and mentoring opportunities both from within the AKQA and WPP networks and through external partners. We accept that we’re a work in progress and aspire to create an inclusive, respectful environment where everyone can do their best work, no matter their discipline. Leadership Ruins It

Pros

There were talented people there.

Cons

Leadership is a mess. Directors are both egotistical and don’t know what they’re doing so are manipulative and micro-managers to try and seem like they’re doing something. Any one who was talented has left there because they see the ship sinking.
