I applied online. I interviewed at KiwiRail (Auckland, Auckland) in Apr 2023
Interview
The total process was about 6 weeks. The first process is a one way video call, you have 10 questions to answer and can do unlimited retakes. They review the video afterwards. The second process is a psychometric online assessment and a personality questionnare and an in person interview which is broken into 2 parts. The first part is a operational scenario where you are given around 6 different scenarios to answer what you would do in that situation, you then read out your answers and the 2 managers give there feedback, you then go into a panel interview with 3 people and are asked various questions about what you know about the company, about there values and why you are interested in the job- the whole interview/scenario process is quite long 2.5hrs
One thing I am really annoyed about is they told me I would hear from them the following week, 2 weeks later I still hadn't heard from them. I only found out I wasn't successful from contacting them. Very rude and from reading other feedback it seems like this is a regular occurrence with kiwirail.

Interview
It was a staged recruitment process involving several trips to Wellington. After applying online I waited several week to hear back, I was then invited to do some online psychometric testing and various other tests, some assessing how I perceived 3d objects moving through space.
Weeks after that I received a letter asking me to attend more testing in Wellington - It was more testing in the same vein as the online stuff.
Then weeks later, again, I was asked to attend an assessment centre, consisting of a round robin panel of events: Interview, Presentation, Role Play and Aptitude testing.
About 2 months later I was offered a position, however, I had to really chase them to actually get an employment contract sent to me.
