Some managers know nothing about tech but interfere with engineers’ work based on their own assumptions. There is a lot of micromanagement. Some managers and teams are really toxic; managers only trust the people who are close to them, regardless of whether they are right or wrong. Managers are good at making up stories about people they dislike and work hard to push them out. Once those people leave, the managers create another story about the reason — for example, saying they split up with their spouse or had other personal issues.
