Pros

The company has a long history of technical expertise, working on projects that are relatively rare in New Zealand. You’ll find many talented colleagues who are supportive and collaborative. The company once had a strong and admirable culture, which was one of its biggest strengths, though unfortunately that culture has been slowly fading over time.

Cons

The long technical history also means there’s a heavy load of technical debt. There is little to no time allocated for cleanup or learning — most of the focus is on rushing project deadlines. Compensation is below market level, and career progression is unclear. Since the U.S. acquisition, the local team has significantly less decision-making power, leaving many with their hands tied. The company’s overall market outlook feels uncertain, and its competitiveness is falling behind.

Cons

The marine industry is a unique market that has a steep learning curve.
