Pros
In larger metro areas, interiror designers are contracted by large design firms to keep special projects on the books. Quite frankly, some design firms "don't draw", they hire out as jobs need it. That's a good thing... for major metropolitan areas.
Cons
IN smaller metro areas, and more conservative northern states, companies are reluctant to sub out work, requie "degrees" to get in the door, and only pay about 40% of what someone is worth. I made $50-75 per hour in the south, I'm lucky to get $25 here in the north,k and that's retail. The value placed on our profession is very low in some places, while revered in others.
