Pros

Good people at branch level

Cons

Lack of progression, I found after a certain amount of time unless you wanted to really suck up to views you disagreed with a lot of roles at a head office level never hired from within. Branch I worked in was quite miserable, good people but didn’t gel as a team. And now managed with another site I don’t see that improving.

Pros

Some great talent, some great middle managers that shelter & back their team to the best of their ability.

Cons

Middle management has limited influence and is often caught between senior leadership and constantly shifting priorities. Teams are expected to absorb unrealistic demands, and when concerns are raised or individuals fall out of favour, restructures can occur with little warning and limited transparency. There is a clear “us and them” culture, with decision-making concentrated within a small inner circle. HR processes are inconsistently applied, which is widely recognised both inside and outside the organisation. While mental health initiatives exist, they often feel like a compliance exercise rather than being reflected in everyday leadership behaviour.

Pros

I met some genuinely great people who were collaborative, supportive, and passionate about their work. Some of the team members are the reason I stayed as long as I did, and many of them are still doing fantastic work there.

Cons

The broader environment was quite challenging, the organisation went through what felt like frequent restructures, which created a sense of instability and made it difficult to plan or feel secure in your role. Management styles varied a lot, and not all leaders demonstrated the professionalism or communication you’d expect, especially during periods of change.
