Pays well. New building and equipment. Nice cafe. Short easy commute from christchurch, bus offered from Rolleston. What few original employees remain are euthanasic, committed and good to work with. Several ex -employee synlait groups exist in christchurch for those that leave.
Cons
5years ago this was an awesome place to work, it was actually hard to get a job here. Parasitic managers have driven this company into another monolithic corporation, resulting in poor culture and performance. Now they struggle to find people and some local opinions are "avoid". The share price has dropped accordingly with the companys declining performance and culture over the last 5years. Synlait has driven away lots of good employees, and is sucking out what passion the remaining long term employees have. It has attracted dead wood (managers and their clingons) from other companies. Commonsense and a sense humor have long walked out the gate. Force of opinion and micromanaging rule here. Restructuring has taken place each of the last 5years, thou the scale may not be company wide at times, expect this to be an annual occurrence. There is no hesitation in hiring management and they in turn hire sycophant underlings, with an obvious drive to lower the labour cost to justify management positions. High turnover of short term staff, with a few preferring to be unemployed temporarily rather than stay. Beware of turnaround management who have worked less than 5 years here. Senior management paid obscene amounts of bonus in shares, this will have no baring on review of your renumeration thou. The company structure is akin to an upside down xmas tree. No matter how much they say they listen, the company decisions have already been made. Be aware don't believe the hype, all that glitters is NOT gold, despite how many times the company may say it.
