Pros
They pay well and on time. Most policies are written down...somewhere. Most decisions will follow a process...of some sort.
Cons
It's a career dead-end. Recognition and promotion will almost always be awarded to the least qualified people in a department. Management decisions tend to favor the least time-efficient or cost-effective solutions. The PMP system discourages teamwork and encourages backstabbing and sabotage. Direct hire employees have started doing runners in the past few years, and I saw multiple interviewees reject job offers for direct hire positions because the compensation wasn't sufficient post-2020. Community Services, IT, and Training & Development were generally considered the worst places to work, but I rarely heard of high morale in any department.
