Just left Capital One after the bulk of my time in Corp Strat, former AP at MBB. Great money, terrible experience. I was a highly paid slide writer. They promised great roles in the business and a path up - completely false. There are few business roles available, and no Corp Strat hire since 2017 has made it past MVP in the lines of business. Tread with caution.

Hi everyone, today is my last day at work due to being laid off.. and I’m just very sad so I’m looking for encouragement mostly. Not my first time being laid off, but still, I’m grieving and feeling lost and scared of the uncertain future. The role was in house strategy at fortune 500 legacy tech. I’m interviewing with two companies. Let’s say I get an offer from both. What would you choose: Fintech: -significant pay raise (like, 100k salary raise) -I would increase my skills/new challenge -cons: red flags in terms of wlb - worried about adapting as I’ve never worked in fintech space before -very AI forward -known to have layoffs Bank: -only about a 20k pay raise -no stress (huge bc I’m a mom to 4), wlb good -less layoff risk -cons: I’m over qualified, would not gain any skills

Do y’all wait to notify your current job until the new job’s background check is completed and you receive your official start date? Or do you go ahead and notify them and give your two weeks when you sign a written offer letter?
