About the role:

Payments Tribe provides secure environment enabling superior payment experiences to empower our customers with trusted payments. This role sits within Cross-border domain in Payments Tribe which supports and modernizes our critical international payment systems and services, to ensure we meet best practice and our ongoing customer demand.

As a Software Specialist - Testing, you will operate as a senior subject matter expert within the squad, combining deep hands-on engineering capability with strong domain understanding. You will take ownership of quality outcomes for larger and more complex work, influence how testing is approached, and actively drive improvements in frameworks, tooling, and practices.

This role goes beyond individual contribution, you are expected to champion the engineering voice within the squad, surface gaps and risks, and advocate for continuous improvement and better prioritisation of quality-related work.

We advocate agile, fully cross functional squads which will take you through all facets of engineering in any given day. We are looking for a mix of technical and non- technical skills to support the following activities:

• Leading test approach and quality discussions for complex or high-impact work

• Reviewing requirements with strong focus on domain correctness and risk identification

• Designing and evolving test strategies, automation frameworks, and testing approaches

• Building and maintaining high-quality automation across APIs and web systems

• Identifying gaps in testing, controls, and delivery practices, and driving improvements

• Acting as a trusted expert engineer within the squad, supporting and mentoring others

• Working closely with stakeholders to ensure strong end-to-end quality outcomes

• Contributing to regulatory compliance and production readiness

• Supporting modernisation efforts using cloud and DevOps practices

About you:

We are looking for someone who brings strong senior engineering capability with clear ownership and influence, not just execution. You’ll bring:

• 6-10 years of extensive experience in test automation and quality engineering

• Proven ability to lead testing for complex systems or large pieces of work

• Strong experience improving frameworks, tools, and engineering practices

• Experience or exposure to Performance testing (JMeter, K6, LoadRunner)

• Good understanding of Agile delivery and modern engineering principles

• Working knowledge of SQL and CosmosDB

• Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, risk-based testing, and quality engineering

• Ability to coach and uplift other engineers within the squad

• Confidence to challenge, influence, and improve how work is delivered

In addition, the following would be an advantage:

• Payments / financial services domain experience (especially cross-border)

• Understanding of DevOps and Cloud technologies (i.e. Azure)

• Experience with test management and end-to-end delivery ownership

• Test simulators (e.g. FINSIM)

• ISTQB Certification
