Wanted : Junior CAD Draftsperson

Woody Glass Limited, based in Flat Bush, Auckland, specialising in commercial glazing, engineering, design, and installation of complex architectural glass systems.

Location : Auckland

Employment Type : Full time

Duration : 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday with optional weekend depending on project

Pay : $30 /hour (Min 40 hours & Max 50 hours per week, earning $1200 - $1500 weekly)

Duties of the Role:

• Prepare detailed shop drawings and fabrication drawings for glass products,
  including windows, doors, partitions, balustrades, and custom glazing systems
  using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD).
• Interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and site
  measurements to produce accurate glass layouts and installation details.
• Develop cutting lists, material schedules, and glass specifications (thickness,
  type, finish, and hardware requirements).
• Liaise with project managers, architects, engineers, and installation teams to
  ensure design intent and practical installation requirements are met.
• Revise drawings in response to design changes, site conditions, or client
  feedback.
• Ensure all drawings comply with relevant building codes, safety standards, and
  glazing regulations.
• Coordinate with the manufacturing team to ensure drawings are production
  ready and feasible.
• Provide technical support to installers by preparing clear and accurate
  installation drawings and details.
• Conduct site visits when required to verify measurements and resolve technical
  issues.
• Maintain accurate records of drawings, revisions, and project documentation.
• Perform quality checks to identify discrepancies or potential installation issues
  prior to fabrication.
• Ensure timely completion of drawings to support production and installation
  schedules.
• Perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time
• Participate in ongoing training and development to stay up-to-date with industry
  best practices

Requisite Competencies :

• Knowledge, skill and experience in installing glass, preferably with experience in industry-standard design, preferably with experience in frameless glass products and high-end glazing projects
• 3 years' relevant experience
• Excellent technical drafting skills with a keen eye for detail
• Awareness of health and safety requirements and high safety-consciousness
• Reliable & able to get to work on time at a variety of site locations
• The right to work in New Zealand
