Mō Mātou | About Us
At ASB, we are more than a bank. We are a purpose-led organisation that helps people, communities, and our environment thrive together. Our values of Courage, Care, and Curiosity guide us to challenge the status quo, genuinely care for those we work with and serve, and always look for new ways to improve. As one of Aotearoa’s most trusted banking partners, we offer the scale and stability of a large organisation while recognising and valuing each person’s contribution.
Mō te Tūranga | About the role
Join ASB’s Modern Integration Platform Engineering Squad and help shape the future of our integration and event-driven technology landscape. This is an opportunity to work on complex, enterprise-scale technology, influence platform direction, and build resilient solutions that power critical experiences across the bank.
As a senior technical leader within the squad, you will play a key role in driving platform capability, engineering excellence, and operational resilience across ASB’s modern integration ecosystem.
In this role, you will:
- Design and deliver complex, scalable software solutions across ASB’s integration platforms
- Lead platform ownership and contribute to architecture and engineering direction
- Manage and optimise cloud-based SaaS platforms, including Confluent Cloud
- Partner closely with engineers, architects, product owners, and cross-functional squads to deliver high-quality outcomes
- Champion modern engineering practices across automation, observability, reliability, and operational excellence
- Influence the resilience, performance, and long-term sustainability of ASB’s technology stack
- Support and mentor other engineers through technical guidance, collaboration, and knowledge sharing
This Level 4 role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex technical challenges, enjoys influencing engineering direction, and wants to remain hands-on while making a meaningful impact across a large-scale technology environment – all without formal people leadership responsibilities.

- Containerisation and Kubernetes, including deployment, scaling, and cluster management (AKS experience preferred)
- Building and supporting CI/CD pipelines, including deployment stages, rollback strategies, and automation through GitHub Actions
- Core networking concepts such as private networking, DNS, VNets, NSGs, and firewall rules
It would be a bonus if you also bring exposure to:
